A moving and surprising story of mothers and daughters, COMO EL MAR follows a road trip filled with discovery.

After the death of her mother, teenager Azul receives a second life-alerting shock: her much older sister Paula is actually her mother. The two cross into Uruguay in order to deliver the news to their aunt Mecha—played by Spanish screen legend and director Pedro Almodóvar regular, Carmen Maura—and to take a journey of revealed family truths and resplendent seaside beauty. Azul and Paula’s already fraught relationship will be tested to redefine itself, resulting in a film deeply connected to each woman’s emotional experience and the hope for their shared future.
